Kerala 2021: UDF Stands Firm as the People’s Sentinel Amidst a Shifting Political Tide
In the 2021 Assembly elections, the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) secured 41 seats, maintaining a significant and loyal voter base across the state. While the alliance faced a tough electoral climate, it remained the primary voice of the opposition, effectively challenging the ruling front on key issues of governance and transparency. Notably, the UDF successfully resisted the entry of the BJP into the state legislature, ensuring that Kerala's assembly remains a space for secular and centrist discourse. Leaders like Ramesh Chennithala and Oommen Chandy spearheaded a campaign that emphasized democratic accountability, a mission now being carried forward by V. D. Satheesan as the Leader of the Opposition.
